Moses Basket 101
What is a Moses Basket?

The name of the Moses Basket is from Moses's story being left in a cradle made of wicker or straw to float down the Nile to escape the Pharaoh. Modern Moses baskets are also typically made of sustainable materials like elephant grass or wicker.

The Moses Baskets we feature at Luliluli are Baba Tree Baskets and are handmade by artisans in Ghana. The weaving style is native to the region, and artisans have the artistic freedom to create all the patterns you see on our site.

These baskets are used for newborn sleep and naps until they can roll or sit up. Moms and babies enjoy having a Moses basket because it is lightweight. The basket can be transported around the house or brought outside with you. Please note, never transport your baby while in the Moses basket.
